Cordova is a small town in Walker County, Alabama, United States. It is located in the northwest part of the state, about 35 miles northwest of Birmingham. According to the 2010 Census, the population of Cordova was 2,059. Cordova was founded in the early 1800s and was named after the Cordova family, who owned a large plantation in the area. The town was incorporated in 1891. The economy of Cordova is largely based on agriculture, with the main crops being cotton, corn, and soybeans. The town is also home to a number of small businesses, including stores, restaurants, and service providers. Cordova has a number of historical sites and landmarks, including the Cordova Water Tower, which was built in the 1930s and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The town also has a number of churches and a public library. Cordova is served by the Cordova School District, which includes Cordova High School. The town is also home to a branch of the Walker County Public Library System. Overall, Cordova is a small, rural town with a rich history and a tight-knit community.
