Coosada is a small town in Elmore County, Alabama, United States. It is located near the city of Montgomery, the state capital. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.2 square miles and a population of approximately 1,100 people. The town was founded in the late 1800s and was named after a Native American term meaning "big turkey". Coosada is home to several small businesses, including stores, restaurants, and a post office.
