Coffeeville is a small town in Clarke County, Alabama, United States. According to the 2010 Census, the town has a population of about 900 people. Coffeeville is located in the southwestern part of the state, about 50 miles northwest of Mobile and about 75 miles southwest of Montgomery. It is situated along the Tombigbee River, which flows through the southeastern part of the state. The town was founded in the early 19th century and was named after General John Coffee, a prominent figure in the Creek War and a member of the Alabama State Senate. Coffeeville is home to a number of small businesses, including convenience stores, gas stations, and restaurants. The town is also home to the Coffeeville Lock and Dam, which was built in the 1930s as part of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway project. The lock and dam is a popular spot for fishing and boating.
