Childersburg is a city located in Talladega County, Alabama, United States. It is situated about 50 miles southeast of Birmingham and has a population of approximately 5,175 people according to the 2010 Census. Childersburg was founded in 1836 and named after its founder, William Childers. The city has a rich history and was once home to a number of Native American tribes, including the Creek and Cherokee. It was also the site of a Civil War battle in 1864. Childersburg is home to several historical landmarks, including the DeBardeleben Coal and Iron Company Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The city is also home to the Childersburg Museum, which features exhibits on the history of the area, including Native American artifacts and Civil War memorabilia.
