Carrollton is a town in Pickens County, Alabama, United States. It is the county seat of Pickens County. As of the 2010 census, the population of Carrollton was 2,197. Carrollton is located in west-central Alabama, about 40 miles southwest of Tuscaloosa. It is situated along the Tombigbee River, which forms the boundary between Pickens and Sumter counties. The town is known for its historic courthouse, which was built in 1877 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Carrollton has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and mild winters.
