Blountsville is a town in Blount County, Alabama, United States. It is located in the northeastern part of the state, about 35 miles northeast of Birmingham. The town has a population of approximately 1,680 people. Blountsville was founded in 1818 and named after Governor Willie Blount of Tennessee, who served as Governor of the Mississippi Territory, which included present-day Alabama. The town was incorporated in 1824 and has a rich history. The economy of Blountsville is largely based on agriculture, with a focus on poultry and cattle farming. The town is also home to a number of small businesses, including retail stores, restaurants, and service providers. Blountsville is served by the Blount County School District, which includes one elementary school, one middle school, and one high school.
