Gibsonton is an unincorporated community in Hillsborough County, Florida, located approximately 10 miles southeast of downtown Tampa. The community is also known by its nickname, "Gibtown." Gibsonton has a unique history as a winter home for carnival performers and sideshow performers. The community was once home to a number of circus and carnival shows during the winter months, and many performers and workers chose to make Gibsonton their permanent residence. As a result, the town developed a reputation as a haven for circus and carnival folk.
