Fort White is a small town located in the northern part of Florida, United States. It is situated in Columbia County, about 25 miles northwest of Lake City, and has a population of approximately 600 people, according to the 2020 U.S. Census Bureau. Historically, Fort White was named after a fort that was built in the area during the Seminole Wars in the 1830s. The fort was used as a base for the United States Army and was located near the Santa Fe River, which runs through the town. The town of Fort White was established in the late 1800s and became an important center for the timber industry.
