Eastpoint is a small unincorporated community located in Franklin County, Florida, United States. It is situated on the eastern end of Apalachicola Bay and is located on the mainland just across from St. George Island. History: The community of Eastpoint was originally known as Franklin. In the early 1800s, a group of settlers from New England came to the area and established a sawmill, which became the economic engine of the town. In the late 1800s, the town was renamed Eastpoint to avoid confusion with the county. The town continued to prosper throughout the 1900s due to the timber industry, commercial fishing, and oyster harvesting.
