Bay Minette is a city in Baldwin County, Alabama, United States. It is the county seat of Baldwin County and is located in the north-central part of the county, approximately 35 miles north of Mobile. Bay Minette is a small city with a population of around 8,300 people, according to the United States Census Bureau. The city was founded in 1821 and was named after Chief Bay Minette, a Native American leader who lived in the area. The city was incorporated in 1868. Bay Minette has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and mild winters. The city is located near the Gulf Coast and is subject to occasional tropical storms and hurricanes. The city is home to the North Baldwin Campus of Faulkner State Community College and the Baldwin County Fairgrounds. Bay Minette is also home to the Baldwin County Heritage Museum, which features exhibits on the history of the county. The city has several parks, including Bay Minette City Park and the Bay Minette Civic Center. Bay Minette is located near several major highways, including Interstate 65 and U.S. Route 31, which makes it easily accessible to nearby cities such as Mobile and Pensacola.
