Autaugaville is a town located in Autauga County, Alabama, United States. According to the 2010 census, the town has a population of 1,146. Autaugaville is located approximately 20 miles northwest of Montgomery, the state capital. The town was incorporated in 1890 and is named for the Autauga Creek, which runs through the area. The name "Autauga" comes from the Native American word "atagá", which means "thicket-clearers" or "fire-makers". Autaugaville is home to several local businesses, including a grocery store, a post office, and a bank. The town is served by the Autauga County School District and is home to Autaugaville School, which serves students in kindergarten through 12th grade. The town is located in a primarily agricultural area, with farming and timber being the main industries. The Autaugaville Community Center is a popular gathering place for residents, and the town hosts a number of events throughout the year, including a Christmas parade and a summer festival.
