Yosemite Valley is a glacially-carved valley in the western Sierra Nevada mountain range of California. It is located in Yosemite National Park, which was established in 1890 and covers over 1,200 square miles. The valley is approximately 7 miles long and less than a mile wide, with steep granite cliffs rising up to 3,000 feet on either side. The Merced River flows through the valley, creating beautiful waterfalls and pools along its path.
