Walnut is a city located in the eastern part of Los Angeles County, California, United States. It is a suburban community with a population of approximately 30,000 people, as of the 2020 United States census. The city covers an area of 9.03 square miles (23.38 km²). History: The area where Walnut now stands was originally inhabited by the Tongva people, who lived there for thousands of years before the arrival of Spanish settlers in the 18th century. Walnut was initially a part of the Rancho de Nogales land grant, which was given to Ricardo Vejar and Ygnacio Palomares by the Mexican government in 1837. The area was primarily used for cattle grazing and agriculture until the early 20th century when it began to be developed for residential purposes.
