Ventura is a city located in Ventura County, California, United States. The city has a population of approximately 109,000 people and covers an area of about 32 square miles (83 km²). Ventura is located along the coast of Southern California, about 65 miles (105 km) northwest of Los Angeles. Ventura was originally inhabited by the Chumash people, who were native to the region. In 1782, the Spanish established a mission in the area, which led to the eventual colonization of the region by Europeans.
