Twin Lakes is a small unincorporated community located in Santa Cruz County, California, United States. It is situated on the east side of Santa Cruz, between Santa Cruz Harbor and the Santa Cruz Yacht Club. History: Twin Lakes was named after the two natural lagoons, located on either side of the Santa Cruz Yacht Harbor, that are connected to the Monterey Bay. The lagoons were originally home to the Ohlone people, who are indigenous to the area. In the late 1800s, Twin Lakes became a popular destination for tourists, who came to enjoy the beach and the natural beauty of the area. The first hotel in Twin Lakes was built in 1898, and the area became known for its fishing and boating.
