Toro Canyon is a small community located in the southeastern part of Santa Barbara County, California, United States. It is situated between the cities of Carpinteria and Montecito, and is surrounded by the Santa Ynez Mountains to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the south. History: The area was originally inhabited by the Chumash Native Americans, who lived in the region for thousands of years before the arrival of Spanish explorers in the 18th century. The land was then granted to various Spanish landowners and ranchers, including the Ortega family who owned a large portion of the land.
