Tobin is a small unincorporated community located in Plumas County, California, in the United States. It is situated along the Feather River, near the confluence of the North Fork Feather River and the Middle Fork Feather River. Tobin was originally established as a mining town during the California Gold Rush in the mid-1800s. The town was named after James Tobin, who discovered gold in the area in 1851. During its heyday, Tobin was home to several hotels, saloons, and stores, as well as a post office. Today, Tobin is a quiet residential community with a small population of around 50 people. The town is known for its beautiful natural surroundings, including the Feather River and nearby forests and mountains. Outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, hiking, and camping are popular in the area.
