Tecopa is a small unincorporated community located in the southeastern part of Inyo County, California, United States. The town is located in the Mojave Desert, just east of Death Valley National Park, and is situated along the eastern slope of the southern end of the Amargosa Range. Tecopa is approximately 90 miles west of Las Vegas, Nevada and 100 miles northeast of Barstow, California. The name "Tecopa" comes from the Paiute language and means "rock rabbit," which is a type of desert hare that is commonly found in the area. The town is known for its hot springs and its historic bathhouses, which have been a popular attraction for tourists since the early 1900s.
