Sunnyvale is a city located in Santa Clara County, California, United States. It is part of the Silicon Valley area and has a population of approximately 153,000 people (as of the 2020 census). The city is bordered by Mountain View to the west, Cupertino to the south, and Santa Clara to the east. History: Sunnyvale was originally inhabited by the Ohlone people before being settled by European-Americans in the mid-19th century. The city was incorporated in 1912 and was primarily an agricultural community until the post-World War II era when technology and defense industries began to grow in the area.
