Shingletown is a census-designated place (CDP) located in Shasta County, California, United States. It is situated in the eastern part of the county, approximately 13 miles east of Redding, the county seat. As of the 2020 census, the population of Shingletown was 2,438. The community of Shingletown was originally settled in the mid-1800s and was named after the practice of making shingles from the local cedar trees. In the early years, the primary industries in the area were logging and farming. Today, the local economy is still largely based on agriculture, with cattle and hay being the main products.
