Shingle Springs is a small unincorporated community located in El Dorado County, California, in the United States. It is situated in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, about 40 miles east of Sacramento and 60 miles west of Lake Tahoe. History: Shingle Springs was originally known as Shingle Springs Rancheria, which was a small Native American community. It was named after the shingles that were produced in the area by splitting local cedar trees, which were used for roofing material.
