San Marino is a city located in Los Angeles County, California, United States. It is a small, affluent residential community with a population of approximately 13,000 people. History: San Marino was originally part of the Rancho Huerta de Cuati, a Mexican land grant issued in 1845. In 1913, the area was subdivided into residential lots and the city was incorporated in 1913. The city is named after the Republic of San Marino, a tiny country in Italy, as the founders of the city believed that the small European country represented the values of liberty and democracy that they wanted to embody in their community.
