San Fernando is a city located in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles County in Southern California, United States. The city has a population of approximately 25,000 people and covers an area of 2.4 square miles. The area now known as San Fernando was originally inhabited by the Tongva people, a Native American tribe. The city was founded in 1874 by Charles Maclay, who named it after the nearby Mission San Fernando Rey de España.
