Atmore is a city in Escambia County, Alabama, United States. It is located about 35 miles north of Mobile, Alabama and about 25 miles west of the Florida state line. As of the 2010 census, the population of Atmore was 10,194. Atmore is home to the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and the Wind Creek Casino & Hotel. The city is also home to the Atmore Area YMCA and the Atmore Public Library. The Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce serves as the main business advocacy organization in the city. Atmore has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and mild winters. The average high temperature in July is around 90 degrees Fahrenheit, while the average low temperature in January is around 40 degrees Fahrenheit. The city has a number of parks and recreational facilities, including Tom Byrne Park, which has a playground, basketball courts, and a walking trail. The city also has a number of golf courses, including the Atmore Country Club and the Wind Creek Atmore Golf Course. Atmore is located in the heart of the Alabama-Florida-Georgia tri-state area and is easily accessible from major cities such as Mobile, Alabama; Pensacola, Florida; and Tallahassee, Florida.
