It is situated in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley and has a population of approximately 26,000 people, according to the United States Census Bureau. History: The city of Reedley was established in 1913, when the Southern Pacific Railroad built a branch line through the area. The town was named after Thomas L. Reed, a landowner who helped bring the railroad to the area. Agriculture has been the primary industry in Reedley since its inception, and the city is known for producing a variety of crops, including peaches, plums, almonds, and grapes.
