Randsburg, California is a small historic mining town located in the Mojave Desert, in Kern County, California, USA. It is situated between the Sierra Nevada mountains to the west and the El Paso Range to the east, about 75 miles northeast of Los Angeles. The town was founded in 1895, during the height of the California Gold Rush, and was named after John W. Rands, a prominent prospector who discovered gold in the area. Randsburg was once a bustling mining town, with a population of several thousand people, numerous saloons, hotels, and other businesses catering to the needs of miners and prospectors. The town produced over $17 million worth of gold and silver between 1895 and 1942, and was one of the most important mining centers in the Mojave Desert.
