Paxton is a small unincorporated community located in Plumas County, California, in the United States. It is situated in the northeastern part of the county, approximately 6 miles west of the town of Quincy, the county seat. The history of Paxton dates back to the mid-19th century when it was first settled by a group of miners during the California Gold Rush. The town was named after Charles Paxton, a local businessman who established a store in the area in the late 1800s.
