Oxnard is a city located in Ventura County, California, United States. It is situated on the coast, approximately 60 miles northwest of Los Angeles and 35 miles south of Santa Barbara. With a population of over 200,000 people, Oxnard is the largest city in Ventura County and the nineteenth most populous city in California. History: Oxnard was originally inhabited by the Chumash people, who were native to the region. In the 16th century, Spanish explorers arrived in the area and began to establish settlements. Oxnard was founded in 1903 by Henry T. Oxnard, who was a wealthy industrialist and the founder of the American Beet Sugar Company. The city was originally designed as a company town, with the sugar factory serving as the focal point of the community.
