Nevada City is a small town located in Nevada County, California, in the western United States. It is situated in the Sierra Nevada foothills, about 60 miles northeast of Sacramento and 28 miles north of Auburn. Nevada City was founded in 1849 during the California Gold Rush and was named after the nearby Nevada Hill. The town played an important role in the mining industry in the mid-19th century and served as a transportation hub for the surrounding areas.
