Montebello is a city located in Los Angeles County, California, United States. It is situated in the southeastern part of the county, just 8 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. As of the 2020 census, the population of Montebello was approximately 63,800 people. Montebello has a rich history that dates back to the Spanish colonial era. The area was originally inhabited by the Tongva people, who were later displaced by Spanish settlers in the 18th century. The land was then used for cattle grazing and farming, and it remained largely rural until the mid-20th century.
