Mentone is a small unincorporated community located in San Bernardino County, California, United States. It is situated at an elevation of 1,332 feet (406 m) above sea level in the southeastern part of the San Bernardino Valley, along the base of the San Bernardino Mountains. The community is located about 10 miles east of San Bernardino, and approximately 75 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. Mentone was founded in the late 1800s as a citrus-producing community. In the early 20th century, the area became known for its vineyards and was a popular stop for travelers on their way to Big Bear Lake and other mountain resorts. Today, Mentone is primarily a residential community with a population of around 9,500 people.
