Loomis is a small town located in Placer County, California, United States. The town is situated in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, about 30 miles northeast of Sacramento, the state capital. History: Loomis was founded in 1850 during the California Gold Rush. The town was named after James Loomis, who was one of the early settlers in the area. Initially, the town served as a mining camp and transportation hub, with a stagecoach stop and a railway station.
