Lennox is a small census-designated place (CDP) located in the southwestern part of Los Angeles County, California, United States. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population of Lennox was 23,789. History: Lennox was founded in 1905 as a railroad town by American industrialist and land developer, John A. Lennox. Originally called "Hawthorne", the town was renamed Lennox in 1917 in honor of its founder. In the early 20th century, Lennox was primarily an agricultural community, known for its production of lima beans, celery, and asparagus. However, the area began to grow and develop with the expansion of the nearby city of Los Angeles, and by the mid-20th century, Lennox had become a bustling suburban community.
