Laguna Niguel is a city located in Orange County, California, USA. It is bordered by the cities of Aliso Viejo, Dana Point, Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills, Mission Viejo, and San Juan Capistrano. The city covers an area of approximately 14.7 square miles (38.0 km²) and has a population of around 66,000 people, as of the 2020 U.S. Census. History: The land that is now Laguna Niguel was originally part of the Rancho Niguel land grant, which was given to Juan Avila in 1842. In the 1950s, the land was purchased by the Laguna Niguel Corporation, which developed the area into a planned community starting in the late 1960s.
