Kettleman City is a small census-designated place (CDP) located in Kings County, California, United States. It is situated in the San Joaquin Valley, approximately halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. History: Kettleman City was established in the late 19th century as a stagecoach stop and later became a popular rest stop for travelers on Highway 99. The town is named after a nearby geological formation, the Kettleman Hills, which are known for their oil reserves. Population: As of the 2020 Census, Kettleman City had a population of 1,281 people.
