El Rio is an unincorporated community located in Ventura County, California, United States. It is located about 60 miles northwest of Los Angeles and about 15 miles southeast of the city of Ventura. El Rio has a population of approximately 7,200 people and covers an area of approximately 2.8 square miles. The community was originally settled by Spanish settlers in the late 1700s and early 1800s, and was later a hub for agriculture and farming, particularly for citrus and avocados. Today, El Rio is a primarily residential community with a diverse population, and is known for its small-town feel and strong community spirit.
