East Sonora is an unincorporated community in Tuolumne County, California, located on the eastern outskirts of the city of Sonora. The community is home to several shopping centers, including The Junction shopping center, as well as a movie theater and a number of restaurants and hotels. East Sonora is also located near the Sierra Nevada Mountains and is within a short driving distance of many recreational opportunities, including hiking, fishing, skiing, and camping. The area is known for its natural beauty and historic gold rush towns, including Columbia State Historic Park, which features restored buildings from the mid-1800s gold rush era.
