Acton is a census-designated place (CDP) in Los Angeles County, California, United States. It is located approximately 34 miles (55 km) north of downtown Los Angeles and is part of the Antelope Valley region of Southern California. As of the 2010 census, the population of Acton was 7,596. Acton was originally a gold-mining town, and its history is tied to the California Gold Rush of the late 19th century. Today, the town is known for its rural character, scenic beauty, and outdoor recreational opportunities, including hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding.
