It is located in the northeastern part of the state, about 90 miles from Birmingham and 75 miles from Chattanooga, Tennessee. The town was named after Anderson Mitchell, a pioneer settler in the area. The economy of Anderson is based largely on agriculture, with poultry farming being a major industry.
